Calm Living owner, Chris Simons was born in Japan and raised in Redmond, Washington. Her early career included marketing roles at several Pacific Northwest companies, including Microsoft and Eddie Bauer, but her eye was always drawn to a more hands-on design role. In 2005, Chris made the leap to follow her dreams, receiving her degree in Interior Design and launching her design consulting business. With 18 years under her belt she felt something was still missing. She wanted to curate locally-made goods and furnishings and create a space for the community to gather. In 2021, Chris opened a brick and mortar furniture and home accessories store in Redmond, naming it Calm Living, inspired by her family’s names Chris, Alex, Logan, and McKaela — Calm.
